The City

Friday at 5:45 a giant van came to pick us up. We shed many tears while leaving my Grammy and Grammpy and my older sister Makenzie. We flew Business class to London, so we got to wait for our flight in a very posh lounge. (Ha! I sound British already!)  Business class itself was rather fancy. You got to order dinner. The best part of it was the Lemon Meringue Pie. Also, the chairs laid completely flat!! I slept very well for an airplane flight. We arrived in London on Saturday, June 2, around 12. We then came to the King's Wardrobe. It is a 3 bedroom apartment with a lovely balcony. Soon after we arrived we walked around London, and went to eat at Pret A Manger. London is filled with old churches and cathedrals. Beautiful scroll work decorates many buildings. Church bells peel out for the Queen's Diamond Jubilee, while others mark the hours. After eating we walked to Covent Gardens. It was in complete mayhem. There were so many people packed into narrow streets and small shops. We went into the Tintin Shop. Tintin is a Belgium reporter who always seems to land in heaps of trouble chasing a story. He has shut down many criminals. The books, by Herge are actually graphic novels. There is an old TV series based on the book, and recently a movie was released. We then had a shock at how small the grocery stores were. We stopped in at Tesco Express which resembles a convenient store with fresh produce. Tomorrow the Queen's Diamond Jubilee parade starts. I can't wait to see it.
